About Coosa Valley Photography.

I received my first 35mm SLR in 1982 when I was 12 years old.   Since that time, photography has been one of several hobbies that I have fervently pursued throughout my life. 

The majority of my experience has consisted of  photographing sunsets, animals, landscapes, old buildings, friends, and family.  Throughout grade school and high school, I’ve spent many hours photographing sports teams, clubs,  and dances  for various  year books.   During my college years, I learned to develop my own prints and discovered that  taking the picture was only half of the creative process.  Big chunks of family vacations have been devoted to me trumping through 4 feet of snow, or waking up at ridiculous times in order to capture the sun just as it rises over the horizon.  

I have a day job that I’ve worked for almost 15 years.  It pays the bills and provides medical insurance for my family.   I work in a great environment, with good people whose efforts in a small way make the world a better place.    Because of this, I don’t feel pressured to misrepresent my skills, and accept jobs that I may not yet be qualified to take.  In other words, if you contacted me and asked me to shot a $2,400 wedding package, I would politely decline and refer you to one of several local photographers that do good work.   Your satisfaction with the service I offer and the product that I provide is more important to me than the money that I receive.
